Thank You Notes

My husband read my post about his family rarely thanking us for the gifts that I send them and he thought he was calling me out by saying that I don't send thank yous either. Wrong! Does he think that I was raised by wolves? My mommy taught me better than that! Growing up my sister and I weren't allowed to play with our new toys until we had written a thank you note for the gift. I must admit, I am not that strict, but I am making Jack sign his name to each of his cards. He has had to take several breaks because "his hand hurts", but I know he will get it done. I told him that if he didn't want to sign his name we could just give the gifts back. For each card he asks me who the card is for and wants me to remind him what they gave him. There hasn't been a card yet that he didn't think was worth signing! I guess I just haven't been keeping Travis up-to-date on what I do from day to day. I have been sending thank you notes to everyone who sends us a gift for the last 10 years! Now that we have kids I make thank you notes a 'table time' activity. Here is a picture of all 33 thank you notes the kids and I did today! This is the proof Travis!!

Darling notes! I think my hubby wouldn't know that we send them either...I too had my little one sign his name this year for the first time. It's hard to read, but we are teaching them a valuable life lesson!

You are the best. I have this same issue. I cannot believe how rude people are. I've actually given gifts to several people that I mailed to them or passed on through other people and never heard a peep about them. I know they got them but they never acknowledged. That just irks me to no end. Good for you that you are instilling politeness in your children. Hooray!

Those are precious!
Thank you notes are a must!! I get miffed when we give gifts and receive no notes.
Just another sign of the failure of common decency, manners and courtesy in our society.
UGH.
Good for you! Glad to know we aren't the only ones!

i do the same thing. but jordan is 12 now and she writes her own notes now. she is really good about doing it with zero complaints. when she was younger i would help her, but she does it on her own now. i hope that she carries it into her adulthood. i love getting a thank you note, it makes giving so much better, knowing that they enjoy what we picked out for them.

yea i wasn't raised by wolves either...lol.

oh and i think it is time that i let my husband know i do this...

Those are so cute. I admit that we are not as good at sending Thank You's. Half the time the kids and I have no idea who they are even from. I do make sure that my kids thank people in person, since at Christmas everyone is just tearing gifts open and have no idea who they get them from.
